Paleo?

Allowed Foods - Not Allowed Foods - Why Paleo? - FAQ

I have been receiving questions from my friends on what the Paleo lifestyle is and why I do it. This little section will give you information on what being Paleo contains and what foods you cannot consume on it.

When did I switch over? In the fall of 2012, I was having a health conversation with my really good friend Brandon, and he started telling me about his diet* and why I should consider it. I was a bit apprehensive at first, I will admit. However, Brandon started off by showing me this really scary article on why grains/legumes were horrible for you, and yes… it scared me silly. If I can ever find the link to that article, I will post it here because.. goodness gracious!  Now, I have had stomach issues all my life. I have IBS and am lactose intolerant so I am quite hesitant when it comes to changing my eating habits but I decided to give it a go. It all clicked in my head that maybe it was the grains/legumes that were driving my stomach to crazy pains and since I was already gluten free & lactose free so why not!

I will admit that the first two weeks of this lifestyle was hard. Really hard. Even with me already being gluten free! I mean, I couldn’t eat peanut butter, oatmeal, beans, corn, white potatoes… you don’t realize how much of that stuff you eat until you need to avoid it! Plus, I seriously love oatmeal and mashed potatoes. However, I did feel better. I had more energy, my moods seemed more stable, and I was able to focus on exercise again. I felt less lazy when I was eating this way, and I started encouraging my friends to try it. They still haven’t but hey, at least I tried. Plus, I lost weight/inches.

Now, I don’t want to sound like I am bragging because I definitely am not trying to but I lost a total of 33 inches. Yes, you read that correctly. I’ve lost a grand total of 33 inches! I also lost 25lbs or something but I don’t really step on the scale all that much anymore. I go by how my clothes fit and how I look in the mirror. Especially now that I spend time at the gym and am sore 99% of the time.
I want to share this with all of you, so please check out the above resources and give it a shot for one week at least. See if you like it! You never know, maybe this is the missing key to your weight loss/fitness success.
