Diet Products

Today, my boyfriend challenged me to a weight loss challenge. We both agreed that we both need to lose 8% of our weight. Now, originally he stated that whoever lost 10lbs first, which I vetoed. If we had kept it at that, I would have had to lose 6.8% of my body weight and he would have had to lose 3%. He then told me to come up with a number after I explained to him that 10lbs was a cakewalk to him since he weighed far more than me. Finally I came up with an 8% which is still a lot for both of us but I think that it's an excellent goal to reach. I guess I will be upping my paleo percentage after I weigh myself tomorrow morning!

I guess I will also have to restart my Kettlebell workout routines. I had been doing just the basic swings and a few squats but I will have to start wearing my heart rate monitor again and aim for the 300 calories burned. This is how I lost all my weight a year ago. Wow, a year ago, that is crazy! I cannot believe that a year ago, today, I weighed my highest weight ever. Yes, ever. If I could do it then, I can do it now right? Right!

However, before I go, I just wanted to bring up the subject of the FTC suing Sensa, HCG Diet Direct, Lean Spa and L'Occitane due to the fact that they, the FTC, don't believe that a single product alone could bring the results that they claim. Now, I'm going to admit this with some shame but I tried the HCG diet and it was horrible! I lasted a week, lost 7 pounds but I was absolutely starving. Plus, I was super crabby. After that, I realized that getting products that promised miraculous results for weight loss, was a waste of money. Just a bit of interesting info I guess since I am sure that many people are still trying to meet their new year's resolutions.

This blog isn't going to be as long because it is currently 12:10am and I am finally starting to get tired. Sweet dreams!

Paleo Meal Prep - Bacon Wrapped Chicken

I haven't meal prepped in awhile which usually leads me to eating either not a lot of food or bad food. I get terribly lazy sometimes, so it is not beyond me to pop a bag of steam-able veggies into the microwave and eat just that. Not very filling. However, this lasted only 2 weeks, and now I'm back on the meal prep bandwagon. The only bad part of meal prepping is that I tend to make the same meals for the whole week, which is fine by me.

Today, I made Sweet & Spicy Bacon Wrapped Chicken Tenders. They were super easy to make, minus the part where I realized I didn't have any toothpicks. So, my friend Alysse suggested that I use dry spaghetti noodles, which I did have. They were some gluten free spaghetti noodles that I must have tried once and decided never again because I don't recall buying them, but the box was open.

It was absolutely delicious, if anybody is curious! It was super easy to make as well. If you want the recipe, you can find it on here: Paleo Sweet Spicy Bacon Wrapped Chicken StripsBon Appétit!

Holidays are finally over!

I feel terrible because I haven't posted in quite some time now but I have been ridiculously busy the last few weekends with Christmas, than New Years, and then Christmas again! I really hope that everybody had a fantastic Christmas and New Year's! Now it is time to settle down and get back into the healthy grind, right? Right! I will admit that the last few weeks, I have ate nothing but non-paleo stuff and I feel awful. I mean, literally, awful. I've been having stomach issues on and off, plus headaches and just feeling blah.

However, this post is going to be focusing on my Holidays and all that fun stuff so, let's get started! First off, even though I didn't get very much for Christmas this year... I received my second favorite gift ever! If you are curious as to what the number one gift that I ever received is, I will tell you. When I was 13 years old, I wanted an American Girl Doll so bad. I had wanted one for years but nobody wanted to get me a doll that cost $83.00! All my friends had one and I always had to play with their dolls and it just wasn't the same as having my own. Well, at Christmas time, my sister (who is two years younger than me) and I were at my Grandma's and we had opened all of our gifts. However, my Grandma all of a sudden goes, "wait a minute, we are forgetting something!" and of course, I didn't think anything of it. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, she produces the white Pleasant Company doll box with the burgundy cardboard wrap on it and I'm pretty sure my heart stopped. I think I said, "it's.. it's.." and that is about it. I couldn't talk for a good fifteen minutes I was so overwhelmed! I think I even cried after that. Anyway, I got Kirsten and my sister got Molly. My Grandma meant the world to me, so I have a very special spot in my heart for that doll.

Okay, well back to my second favorite Christmas gift! A few weeks ago, my sister asked me if I would use their old DSLR if she gave it to me. I told her I would, of course. I have been wanting to get a DSLR for quite some time but it's really hard for me to shell out $600 in one go (minus if it was a computer) so I was waiting for the right moment, financially, to get one. Now, mind you, she told me she was giving me her old one which is the only reason I told her I would use it. Yea, it didn't happen that way. She handed me a box, I opened it, and was pretty darn impressed that they had kept all the manuals and warranties... but then it struck me that it was not a used camera but a brand spanking new one because everything was still in the baggies. I was pretty crabby that my sister spent that much money on me! It was an awesome present and I am forever greatful for it! I love it too, by the way. To show you how much... it is now photo time! I only have three to show you because the rest I haven't edited yet but that is okay.

This is one of the ornaments on my parent's Christmas tree. I was trying to figure out the focus and how to use it without it being on auto.

My sister's cat, Hunter. He was the only cat of theirs that would stay still long enough to take a photo. Definitely not the best photo but I like her chair haha.

My aunt's two lovebirds. It is really hard to take a photo of birds through bars of a bird cage. Luckily, you can't see the bars too much.

Well, I will talk about my New Year's in the next post because it is 1:21AM and I am really tired. I hope all is well, and take care until next time!

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone that reads this blog is having a wonderful and lovely Christmas! It has always been one of my favorite holidays, even when it has been filled with quiet and loneliness at times. I think that is one of the things that people always take for granted sometimes. Holidays are times when you gather with friends and/or family and celebrate with each other the wonders of the holidays and you don't really ever think that there are people who may not be able to do the same.

I also placed my order for my New Year's Eve outfit. It isn't as sparkly as I would like but it's super cold here and most sparkly clothes/dresses/skirts were not winter friendly. It's okay though! I love the outfit I got. It's simple but cute, in my opinion.

Hopefully it get's here in time! I did pay for Express shipping because I wasn't sure when it would arrive otherwise! Yes, it was $20 but I don't care. I wanted my outfit and I was scared to brave the mall since I've only heard accident stories on the radio all week!! Anyway, that is about all I have for today. Have a wonderful rest of your Christmas!

2AM Fire Alarms

There is absolutely no better way to wake up on a lovely 14*F December night than by the shrill noise of a fire alarm outside your apartment door. Especially when you are sick! I have been plagued with this ridiculous chest cold for a whole week now and I am ready for it to be done. However, I highly doubt I will be back to healthy if I have to keep spending unnecessary time outdoors in the freezing temperatures!

Let me recap last night for you, since I am sure ya'll are interested (okay, I know you are not, but I want to vent anyway!) I was all snuggled in my warm, cozy bed dreaming about something when this ear splitting, mind jarring, shrill blasts into my apartment. I groggily wake up, look at my alarm clock which I swear says 4:30AM and then lay there for a few minutes trying to grasp what is going on.

As I told my supervisor, who scolded me when I told her how long it took me to get out of my apartment, I didn't smell smoke so I was not in any hurry. Plus, I am not one of those people who sleeps in lots of clothing. Even in the winter time, the less the better I sleep! I was wearing shorts and a tank top but that is hardly 14*F attire! I had to then dig around for some sweatpants to throw on, and then a sweatshirt, socks, shoes, jacket, scarf, gloves, etc. I ran a brush through my hair (I don't know, I was barely conscious but that is what I thought I had to do) and stuffed a few things into my purse (aka my nook and my cellphone), found my keys and then locked my apartment door and went outside. I know, I'm slow. Had this been a real fire, I'd be dead because I live on the third floor so... yea. Anyway, I wasn't the last to leave my apartment building so at least I was somewhat quicker than my neighbors were.

There was a total of five firetrucks outside and it still took them a whole fifteen minutes to figure out that the building was not on fire and we could return inside. I think I tried to ask a neighbor if they saw anything but a crackling frog croak came out of my mouth instead. Like I said, I am sick. Finally they let us back in but does that mean that the alarm was turned off? No! It took another 45 minutes for that damn noise to stop blasting away. I was so unhappy. However, on a good note... it was not 4:30AM... it was only 2AM so I was still able to get some sleep in afterwords.

The moral of this story is that I would burn/suffocate to death if this was an actual fire because I have the response time of a snail that is half asleep.

On another note, I made progress in my hooping practice today and I only managed to cough nonstop for 30 minutes afterwords! My boyfriend wonders why I didn't want to go to the gym yesterday and today, well this would be why. I hack up a lung. I also was going to make our premade meals this week but I don't think he would appreciate receiving my cold... though I think he gave it to me in the first place so who knows.

That is all for now! I hope everybody is having a much healthier week than I am!

It's So Cold Outside!

Well, winter has arrived. It has been pretty cold out but we got our first snowfall this past weekend and I was not thrilled about it. Snow makes me unhappy, which is unfortunate since I live in Wisconsin. We only got 2-4 inches but it has been ridiculously cold outside as well. It's supposed to be -9*F tonight. -9! That is unacceptable.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was on tonight, which is always a kicker for me to be motivated. I know, it's silly to have to see things like that to be motivated but I can't help it. In the winter, I really suck at not wanting to lay in bed/under covers drinking tea while watching Christmas movies. It's the thing to do!

I don't really have a whole lot more to say. However, it seems that soon I will be the owner of a DSLR camera which means that when I make nummy Paleo foods, I will be able to take excellent pics of it! Hopefully, anyway. That is my goal.

I'm sorry that this entry has been pretty boring. I haven't done anything exciting normal or exercise wise since my last update. For shame!
